I don’t tend to do a lot of engagement photography (and these are certainly not their only engagement portraits–see below). Mostly because I am terrified of weddings. Not attending them, per se. I am a cryer. I love weddings. I love the love. And the cake. It all comes down to the cake, really.
No, I’m terrified of photographing weddings. I lack the nerves of steel it takes to document the event that took one woman and perhaps a whole team of relatives and planning professionals MONTHS to organize and make perfect down to the last detail. I admire wedding photographers. But I can’t handle the stress.
But I do love working with people, and I met this lovely couple while doing an extended family session a few weeks back. Most of the session focused on the most adorable little girl ever. But we took a few minutes to capture this couple with their furbaby. It was fun. Sometimes dogs take direction a little better than toddlers. I can see why some people really get into pet photography! (Again, not for me! I still prefer the two-legged babies!)
Why these are not “engagement portraits”? This couple was recently engaged and have just set a date for a lovely Austin wedding. But they already have some great engagement portraits! Men, take note: this quick-thinking guy thought to hire a photographer to document the proposal at a lighthouse in Martha’s Vineyard. Yep. Sounds pretty awesome to me! (And do any guys read my blog? I keep asking you to comment if you do? Perhaps not!) Definitely should be something to think about when you are ready to pop the big question!!!!

It was great to meet you guys! You are a gorgeous couple and you are going to have a fabulous wedding!
PS: Now all I can think about is cake. Yum! Cake!!!
