About Sabrina K. Photography:

Welcome to my blog! I'm Sabrina Koogler, and I love photography! I always have my nose in a photography book, camera to my face, working on a challenge, workshop, or contest (in between sessions and processing!) becoming the best photographer I can be! I used to teach high school Spanish, and now I'm a stay-at-home mom to two adorable, rascally boys. Sabrina K Photography is my third baby, born of the need to document all of the milestones, wild times, and quiet moments of my children and others. My style is fun and natural. I seek to document the authentic "you" in my images. I offer custom portraiture in the Houston area, and I'm based in Pearland. I enjoy working with natural light and studio lighting--it's fun having a dual-sort of personality! And it certainly keeps things interesting!

    Love is in the air

    Monday, January 17th, 2011

Yes, I am still around! This move is kicking my boo-tay! For real, y’all! I have not had ANY time to work on ANYTHING! Yikes!

But since I was soooo awfully late last time with this little cutie’s monthly portrait, I thought I’d give mom something as soon as possible!

It was super fun today! Thanks!!

I’m using some overlays that were available for FREE download over at I Heart Faces! Just “like” their Facebook page to grab the goodies!

    1-2-3-4

I met up with this sweetheart and Mom and baby sister the other day for a few pictures at the park of her choice to document her fourth birthday. I am so lucky to get to work with this family! Little Miss and I had some great conversation, a refreshing beverage, and snapped some lovely images.
Here’s one of my favorites. Oh-those-lashes.

I know some other moms have claimed Little Miss here in an arranged marriage with their sons, but she and my big guy are two peas in a pod and just might tie the knot some day. Or one can only hope so!
Thanks again. It was a blast!

    Fall/Winter What to Wear

    Saturday, September 4th, 2010

If you’re like me, the family photo shoot can turn into a major panic moment when you realize you have to get your whole family dressed (with a streaking three-year-old, just the “getting dressed” part is a challenge!) in outfits that are (A) all washed and ironed (B) are flattering to all individuals and (C) coordinate somewhat.  Notice I said “somewhat”.  Taking a family portrait does not mean you all have to look like clones. You want your family to look like you–not like any family on the wall at Olan Mills. So get ready to break out of the white-button-down-and-denim rut and take a spin through these suggestions. (Yes, washateria pun intended).

(If you’re chuckling at the idea of my putting together a fashion guide that is totally fine. If you know me, you know my idea of “fashion” consists of some cargo pants and shoes you can hike and raft in. So, no, I did not put this together. The lovely and talented Pinkle Toes put this together. Check her out: Pinkle Toes Photography. And check out her site for photogs where you can join and get great goodies like this: www.pinkletoes4photographers.com)

I will say that my hubbs came up with a great idea for discussing what to wear. In three easy steps!

    1. Pick your favorite store to shop at. Gap. Anthropologie. Banana Republic. Wherever.

    2. Get their catalog or go to their website.

    3. Look at the outfits they have put together.

    4. Whip out the credit card and order them. (Okay, that fourth one is my addition. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind, right?)

Okay, back to the fashion guide. (Click on any of the smaller images to start scrolling through larger images in the gallery.)

So what did you notice? Color! Texture! Layers! Patterns! Interest! Not too matchy! No clone outfits!

Pick a color or two. Add some patterns. And texture. A jacket, hat, or scarf. Chunky jewelry. Have fun!

So you’re going to ask. . “Where are these fabulous clothes from?” That’s not an easy answer. These items were found around Austin (where Pinkle Toes is based). I can find out where some items are from (Macys. Nordstrom, Boden, Pea in the Pod, for example) so if there’s a must-have item, let me know. But you can go into any store or pick up any catalog (or visit any website) and see the “looks” they have put together. Do you need to break the bank? Surely not. Old Navy has fabulous outfits. Or anywhere. Just give it a whirl!

Pick a color or two. Then throw in some patterns. A jacket or hat or scarf. Or a tie. Maybe on your toddler for fun! Go beyond white and denim or khaki. I can’t wait to see how you look!

    Back to school

    Monday, August 30th, 2010

Well, actually, “going to school for the first time”.
My big guy starts pre-school/Mother’s Day Out on Wednesday. I think we’re both a little nervous (I’m trying to keep my cool). In between sewing the cover to his nap mat and getting the baby down for a nap we were able to snap one (yes, o-n-e) picture in his back to school outfit. (Thanks, Erika Cain Designs!) I didn’t want to risk running late on Wednesday and leaving the photos until then. I’m sure I’ll get some snapshots, but I wanted to really document the outfit as well.
Can you tell he is a little less than willing here?
    Oh well. . .
So here we go, folks, on this rollercoaster ride of school. Any bets on how long he lasts before they call me to come get him?

Notice the awesome Captain Rex shoes? We just had to have those.
