About Sabrina K. Photography:

Welcome to my blog! I'm Sabrina Koogler, and I love photography! I always have my nose in a photography book, camera to my face, working on a challenge, workshop, or contest (in between sessions and processing!) becoming the best photographer I can be! I used to teach high school Spanish, and now I'm a stay-at-home mom to two adorable, rascally boys. Sabrina K Photography is my third baby, born of the need to document all of the milestones, wild times, and quiet moments of my children and others. My style is fun and natural. I seek to document the authentic "you" in my images. I offer custom portraiture in the Houston area, and I'm based in Pearland. I enjoy working with natural light and studio lighting--it's fun having a dual-sort of personality! And it certainly keeps things interesting!

    PROJECT 52: Week 17 {facial features}

    Thursday, April 26th, 2012

    I realized that I’ve been so consumed with other stuff that I have not really been playing with my new toy–my 100mm macro lens.  So I popped that bad boy on this week and have been sticking to it. Here’s a secret: I think I’m a prime gal after all. Yikes! How on earth am I going to resolve this love for primes with a love for families? Stay tuned for that, but today what I have for you are some {facial features} courtesy of this week’s challenge with the beautiful ladies of The Bloom Forum:

    Truly, he’s the apple of my eye. I can’t love this photo any more than I do right now. Big pink puffy heart love.

    Can dirt be considered a facial feature? It’s pretty much a standard around here! I love his squishy nose here. And the apple-eating drool drop.

    Love that expressive face. He would not give up the dimples, though. Boy, he has the cutest dimples! Since the day he was born! I was lucky to get what I got!

    Those ladykiller eyelashes. . . sigh. . .he gets them from his Daddy. (Notice he’s wearing a different sunsuit here? Yeah, did I mention “dirt” being a constant??)

    Yes, his eyes are totally unreal here. I didn’t really do anything with them in post. Love this boy!!!

    What a fun assignment this week! Perhaps if I was working with my “big” I would have been able to really get close to focus on those details, but this will do for now!

    Now go check out Misty Seltzer | Lubbock, TX Family Photographer to see her take on this week’s theme here.

    PROJECT 52: Week 16 {expressive}

    Thursday, April 19th, 2012

    Well, I’ve been out a few weeks feeling just a little overwhelmed but I am back and excited about being part of the loop again for the weekly challenge!

    This week’s theme is {expressive} and there is no one I know who is more into his own self-expression that my Big right now. He’s got very strong opinions on everything–he has since the day he was born!–and as we approach 5 his own sense of style is really coming out.

    So here he is, folks, my truly {expressive} little man:

    Orange (Go Horns!) athletic shorts, blue cowboy boots and a long-sleeve glow-in-the-dark Star Wars (Clone Wars, of course) t-shirt. Love this kid!

    Go check out the lovely ladies of The Bloom Forum to see their interpretation of this week’s theme, starting with Mischief and Laughs Photography here

    Macro Monday

    Monday, April 2nd, 2012

    Okay, so I got my birthday gift a little early this year and you’re just going to have to deal with it. . .

    Some macro goodness of some stinky but still sweet big almost two years old boy! Dying Easter eggs was just not exciting enough to keep him from passing out (might have helped if he would actually take a nap sometimes!)

    Oh how I love those stinky feet! I can’t believe my sweet little baby is going to be two in just over a month! Gasp!

    PROJECT 52: Week 11 {green with envy}

    Friday, March 16th, 2012

    Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!

    Wear your green tomorrow or expect to be pinched!

    My boys got into the spirit of things and, as always, taking pictures of one of my littles turned into some green-eyed jealousness!

    I often think I could do blog post of JUST outtakes and people might enjoy them more. The shots you get that you aren’t trying to get speak so much more to me than the “everybody’s happy and smiling and looking at the camera” shots. But that’s a matter of taste and style and definitely resonates with my style of candid, real-life photography!

    So here are my {green with envy} outtakes. The best psychology for getting a picture of one kid is to try to take a picture of the other! LOL!

    “Here, Mom, let me totally crash your party!”

    “Wait! If he get a picture with a hat I want a picture with a hat! And I’m going to hit him with said hat for good measure!”

    “This rug’s not big enough for the two of us!”

    And maybe I’m painting the wrong picture of my boys. Generally they get along splendidly. But they are brothers and they do fight like rabid dogs! And if one has something the other one makes it his goal to try to get it!

    But here are the “real” images from the session to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day! Slainte!

    I love funny hats

    Well, that’s all, folks.

    Be sure to check out Misty Seltzer | Lubbock, TX  Photographer for her take on {green} here.
