Oh yikes. I have made a commitment. A HUGE commitment (well, okay, not as huge as it could be but *gulp* it sure feels daunting right now!). Through the incredible Bloom Forum (a wonderful resource and source of inspiration for photographers at all levels) I’ve joined a group of super-talented photographers all over the world to participate in a 52-week photography project. Every Friday we will post an image (or two or more–you know me!) with the week’s theme in mind and link to another talented photographer. I cannot wait! I’m looking at this as a chance to get out of any ruts, explore some creative options that I wouldn’t want to necessarily spring on a client, and just play and have fun with the camera. Love!
So this week the theme was {you}. A self-portrait. It’s all about ME! I have to admit–I’m a ham! I love to be in front of the camera. Yes, seriously! I do! I am not photogenic at all, but I love the limelight! I even taught a distance learning class back in my teaching days where I was on video while I taught and broadcasted to another classroom in another school across town. I loved it! I even wore lipstick. I loved being on stage. Weird. Yes. (But I got to use oodles of awesome technology and met the awesomest people!). Anyway. . .I totally love the camera. Good thing I’m behind it, right!
So I’ve done my share of self-portrait work lately.
I did these two this September:

Reading with my boys.

Running with my boys
And then I decided to do a self-portrait a few weeks ago:
(I don’t really look like this. We were dressing nicely for a date night and I thought to snap a few while my husband was getting ready. I look old! Gasp!)
So for this week’s assignment I thought I’d try out a few composites of my multiplicitious nature. Did I just make up that work? Probably. Anyway. . I wear a lot of hats. Wife. Mom. Runner. Photographer. I’m a Gemini–the Twins–and I definitely have a dual personality.
See? Somewhat sophisticated and totally frazzled all in one!
My poor feet do tell a story. They run a lot. Have paced a house holding a baby a lot. Have stood in a kitchen a lot. Have been stepped on a lot. And I guess my poor bruised shins tell their own story of my clumsiness. Seriously, I have no idea why I have so many bruises. And while the patch tool was calling out to me, I’ve left them there because they are {me}. And next time I might take off my socks a little while before taking pictures to avoid the sock lines on my legs. That sort of inattention to detail on my own person is me as well.
So week one is done. Go and check out another photographer’s project here: Misty Setzler | Lubbock,TX Family Photographer (yay! another Texas gal!)
