About Sabrina K. Photography:

Welcome to my blog! I'm Sabrina Koogler, and I love photography! I always have my nose in a photography book, camera to my face, working on a challenge, workshop, or contest (in between sessions and processing!) becoming the best photographer I can be! I used to teach high school Spanish, and now I'm a stay-at-home mom to two adorable, rascally boys. Sabrina K Photography is my third baby, born of the need to document all of the milestones, wild times, and quiet moments of my children and others. My style is fun and natural. I seek to document the authentic "you" in my images. I offer custom portraiture in the Houston area, and I'm based in Pearland. I enjoy working with natural light and studio lighting--it's fun having a dual-sort of personality! And it certainly keeps things interesting!

    Senior 2011: The shoes

    Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Okay, so I worked with Mom like two lifetimes (or at least two children!) ago, and I knew that this rockin’ senior was seriously going to have some awesome shoe genes. And I was totally not disappointed!

I met this fabulous young lady in the Museum District and we did a whirlwind tour (pun intended–it was WINDY!!!) to rock out her senior pics. Seriously, there was a.lot.of.wind! Which made for some really awesome “hair blowing in the wind” shots!

Here’s just a sneak peek. She mentioned red shoes and I just about died! While I may not *wear* terribly cute and fashionable and excruciatingly painful shoes myself, that does not mean I don’t have an appreciation for them!

Clearly from all the happy dancing and shrieking in delight I did during the session this is just a tiny sampling. We had fun. I had fun. It was a lot of fun. I love working with seniors. (And this is when my husband steps in and says in his best man voice: “It’s not rocket science, Sabrina. You did teach high school and liked it.” Then he shakes his head.)

I can’t wait to show the rest!  C, it was a delight! You were really fun to hang out with!

    Senior, 2011!

    Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Doesn’t this one just say it all?

I’ve been driving around, checking to make sure these yellow fields have not been mowed. Glad we got out in it with the blue chair (Mom asked me if I bought this chair with a yellow field in mind and, um, yes, the blue chair in a yellow field is EXACTLY why I bought this chair!!!). So glad we got to use it! And with such a beautiful girl!!!

I was so happy to work with this young lady and her mom (a dear friend!)! It was difficult to pick the sneak peek! Can’t wait to show more! Despite the most yucky, overcast evening, we got some beautiful images!

And we went by an awesome classic auto body shop. Can I tell you how much I heart rust?

Thanks so much for a fun session! It was worth tromping through a field on the side of the road (spiders! eeek!) lugging a big chair with traffic passing by wondering what on earth we were doing! (Art, people, jeez!)

    Senior Portraits

    Saturday, November 6th, 2010

Well, hello again! Yes, I’m back for another blog post.

In between my boys protesting their naps, I’m trying desperately to catch up.

This time I’m talking seniors. Better yet, senior guys! Yup, this was a whole lot of fun! We added on a bit of senior work at the end of a family session, and it was a lot of fun. I’ve mentioned it before here and elsewhere that I was “totally surprised” at how much I liked working with a senior. Well, *duh*, I used to teach high school and actually liked the kids, so it’s not a big stretch of the imagination. But I digress.

I was so fortunate to work with this young man. He was so natural and easygoing in front of the camera. Thanks a lot!

It’s all about the car (or truck), right? I love that we were able to incorporate his really, really, really nice vehicle into the shoot!

He’s just so natural and relaxed, isn’t he? It was so nice to just work and be relaxed and have a good time!

The IPhone. I wonder is Apple knows about the frequency of their products showing up in senior portraits? (Shh! They probably could market this angle even more!)

Oh I just heart this one. So James Dean/”Rebel Without a Cause” minus all the angst.  Love!

So I found this chair at a funky resale shop on Boston Ave. the day before the shoot (darnit being across from the kids’ consignment shop when I consign!) and nooooo, just because it is ORANGE does not mean I am promoting my University of Texas agenda. At all. Well, maybe a little bit. It’s not even the right orange, really. And oh my poor Longhorns! What happened this year? *Le sigh*

Wait, did I just totally digress for a second there? Back to the senior. Love this image.  Great smile.

Thanks a million. I wish you all the best for your adventures next year!

    First Senior

    Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Well, I never thought I would enjoy working with seniors. But, man, I worked with an awesome guy last weekend and I have to say I LOVE working with seniors!

This is kind of a “smack my head” moment since I taught high school (and enjoyed the kids) for several years before staying home with the boys. Duh! Of course I would love working with seniors!

Anyway, I just thought I would share that!

Here’s a sneak peek for mom, who is being incredibly patient!

He’s sooooo handsome and fun and was so natural in front of the camera! It was so wonderful just getting to interact! I hope the school year is going great!
