About Sabrina K. Photography:

Welcome to my blog! I'm Sabrina Koogler, and I love photography! I always have my nose in a photography book, camera to my face, working on a challenge, workshop, or contest (in between sessions and processing!) becoming the best photographer I can be! I used to teach high school Spanish, and now I'm a stay-at-home mom to two adorable, rascally boys. Sabrina K Photography is my third baby, born of the need to document all of the milestones, wild times, and quiet moments of my children and others. My style is fun and natural. I seek to document the authentic "you" in my images. I offer custom portraiture in the Houston area, and I'm based in Pearland. I enjoy working with natural light and studio lighting--it's fun having a dual-sort of personality! And it certainly keeps things interesting!

Will You Bee Mine?

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

(If you’re looking to enter the free portrait session contest, visit the post below or click the link here.)

What’s the buzz? I’ve decided to do some “Bee Mine” Valentine’s Day Mini-Sessions. Yes, it’s somewhat last-minute, but if you know me you KNOW I can’t resist the opportunity to take portraits for a holiday!

Quick, 30-minute session on February 5 at my in-home studio (yes, I MUST get the house unpacked by then!). Session fee includes one digital file of your choice with print release (you will view your proofing gallery early in the week to allow for time for cards, etc.).  Plus some fantastically discounted offers for prints and products from the session! $50+tax. Reserve your session now! Contact me at info@sabrinakphotography.com.

What can you expect? Have fun with some props (mine or yours–think lipstick kisses from mom, giant lollipops, box of candy, bows, pettiskirts, lots of red, white and pink!). We’ll aim for around 6-8 fantastic images of your cuties. This limited set can accommodate 3 kiddos max.  Contact me to book your session today!

Here’s some fun I had with my munchkins the other day:

Oh heavens, I pray for the day that I stop loving selective color. Until then, I will still offer this throwback to 1996. So if you love it too, let’s join hands and sing “Ice, Ice. Baby” like we mean it.

All we need is. .. LOVE!

I heart storyboards!

Yes, this is an “outtake”. But I love it! Just because they’re my kids certainly does not mean they enjoy being in front of the camera all of the time! Little Man seems pretty fed up with all this “love” stuff anyway!

Here’s the one I’ll be sending out this year. My three-year-old has discovered his “cheese” smile. *sigh* Otherwise he’s not looking at the camera. At least not when the baby is! I still love it!

We can add a little bit of “whimsy” to your images if you’d like.

Oh, my, I love this little man. And I sure would love an assistant to have kept these glasses on for one nanosecond longer! But I’m glad to see those baby blues as well!

Gotta love these Babylegs. I can’t get enough of them. I mean, I would consider trying to have a girl just to put her in babylegs all the time. Okay, so I’m totally joking. Well, maybe not totally! And Little Man crawled around in these for a little while–I figure they are gender-neutral enough!

So that’s just a sample. See anything you like? Contact me to book your mini-session today!

(And did you notice? Two blog posts–and two big promotions!–in one day! Can you tell I got some reinforcements with the kids this morning? Thanks, Dad!)

Need a family portrait?  Capture a birthday? Document a milestone? Well, I’ve got some good news! How about we work together to do that. .  .for FREE?!

That’s right, FREE. I do one free session giveaway once a year and am SO excited about it this time around! There are SO many awesome things happening in the photography world right now, and I am thrilled to add in a little goodness of my own!

Post a review on my Facebook page (at the top there is a tab for “Reviews”–go there and give me some stars, baby!) and then come back here and–you guessed it!–comment telling me you have done that. If you have already left a review, you’re still good for an entry. Just comment saying you’ve already left a review!

Whew! You still with me!

Let’s up the anty a little! If I get over 100 comments on the blog here, I’ll give away TWO free sessions.

I love doing this! Yippee!

Farewell, Southeast Texas

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Wow, time sure flies!

I had planned to write this post on December 30–the day before we moved back to Pearland. However, AT&T in their infinite “helpfulness” (yes, that was very sarcastic and a euphemism) turned off our Internet a day early (eeeks! a day with no internet or home phone! the horror!). So things got put on the back burner.

I have to tell you, as a person who has moved a bit–moving just gets tougher and tougher every time. (This is the third time we’ve moved into this house in the six years we’ve owned it–does that count as moving a lot?) Of course, we’ve “acquired” a family member since the last time we moved and he accounts for a bit of the challenge. And despite several serious purges, we are still brimming with “stuff”. It’s all gotta go someplace! And once that is done, then my poor stepchild of a business gets some much-needed attention.

Are you following me? Am I just ranting? Moving = difficult + kids = more difficult + wanting to get back to shooting other people’s kids = what I would rather be doing instead of unpacking another box of STUFF!!

And have I mentioned the “baby” is now crawling??!! He’s currently on a mission to unplug the phone jack from the wall, disconnecting me from the Internet so I can’t write this post.

And so we come full circle again.

I enjoyed my year in Southeast Texas tremendously. I met some A-Ma-Zing friends who I will love forever and ever.  Big pink puffy hearts, gals! I miss so many things about living there–gorgeous light, a little bit of nature, the sound of the ships passing in the night. (Granted, there are things I am THRILLED to be away from, including all of the crummy appliances in our rental and the washer/dryer located in the garage. ugh!).

I captured this image with my husband’s camera on one of our last days there on a gorgeous evening where he would take our big guy fishing in the kayak and crabbing. I love the sight of the Rainbow and Memorial Bridges.

Farewell, SETX. You were good to me and my family. And I thank you for that.

Well, I guess that about does it for sentimental. Please excuse me as I take a dog bone away from the baby who’s chewing on it.

Love is in the air

Monday, January 17th, 2011

Yes, I am still around! This move is kicking my boo-tay! For real, y’all! I have not had ANY time to work on ANYTHING! Yikes!

But since I was soooo awfully late last time with this little cutie’s monthly portrait, I thought I’d give mom something as soon as possible!

It was super fun today! Thanks!!

I’m using some overlays that were available for FREE download over at I Heart Faces! Just “like” their Facebook page to grab the goodies!
