What can I say about waking up at 5:30 (or earlier) on a weekend to take care of a screaming baby (and unruly preschooler) on a weekend while I go have my “me” time on a run?
And then to watch the screaming kids while I get a shower and (often) ice bath to soothe my aching body? And making me coffee or tea with screaming baby on hip (remember, men don’t have hips like we do to support screaming babies!)? And then, as if that wasn’t enough, making me a good protein-rich breakfast to aid in my recovery?
The man is awesome and takes care of me. And supports my crazy passions (running AND photography) 100%. What can I say? And I can’t help but love that the best!

Joy of Love, Day 25: When you love them the most

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011Day 23: Facebook.
My hubby just got on Facebook this year and really does not use it. But I LOVE this pic his friend Brian took of my boys at his bay house a few years back. Can you believe that baby is my big boy??? Can you believe those long, luxurious locks? Can you believe I still remember that day VIVIDLY because of the HORRIBLE diaper I had to change at a gas station a few miles down the road (thank you, watermelon!)!?!? (Can you believe my big boy every wore diapers??)

Day 19: When they’re gone

Day 20: When they’re at home

I wish I was the healthy one in our relationship, but I’m not. While I have kicked most of the junk food cravings most of the time, I still want some good old junky fast food more often than not. John is such a healthy person with such discipline. And some of it has rubbed off. But, seriously, when he is away, my standards for meals go WAY down! Dinner can be a fried egg and some cereal (or Chik Fil A is what I’m really craving!). I love being married to someone who truly prefers eating healthy. It is a great motivator.
Like tonight. We have some chicken I cooked to eat for dinner. My initial thought was to make it with some spaghetti. Then I thought about what John would prefer and bought a spaghetti squash . Aha! We meet in the middle!
Is that it? Am I caught up with Joy of Love?? Whoo-hoo! And just five more days! I certainly think I can make it now!!! And his birthday is Sunday. Whoo hoo!!!
And, seriously, I am ready to be blogging about other things as well! Very much to post!!!
Joy of Love, Days 15 and 16
Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011Day 15: El beso. Il bacio. The kiss.
Okay, so I’m cheating with these! These images are courtesy of the lovely and talented Sara Welch Photography from last summer. Baby K was three months old and my fat ankles are a testimony that I was no where near having lost that baby weight! Oh well! I still have two pounds to go and he’s almost 10 months old (GASP!). If you’re in Southeast Texas, you absolutely must get Sara to do your portraits. She is fabulous beyond words!

And Day 16: Together:
Love this image of the two of us!

Both of these images I have hanging on my walls. Love them! Thanks again, Sara!

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011Staying in:

Here we are as a family enjoying dinner on the back porch. Seems like winter was just a passing thought. Now we can start complaining about the summer heat! And please excuse our back yard. Our “retreat” is pretty much in shambles right now!
Going out:
Ha ha! You thought I’d post a date night! Enjoying the “great outdoors” (it’s a State Park, so really. . .) is something we like to do as a family. Just staying active!

My boys did a great job fishing! So well that the alligators thought they’d take advantage of the feast and started circling the pier. It was a little too close for my comfort!
