About Sabrina K. Photography:

Welcome to my blog! I'm Sabrina Koogler, and I love photography! I always have my nose in a photography book, camera to my face, working on a challenge, workshop, or contest (in between sessions and processing!) becoming the best photographer I can be! I used to teach high school Spanish, and now I'm a stay-at-home mom to two adorable, rascally boys. Sabrina K Photography is my third baby, born of the need to document all of the milestones, wild times, and quiet moments of my children and others. My style is fun and natural. I seek to document the authentic "you" in my images. I offer custom portraiture in the Houston area, and I'm based in Pearland. I enjoy working with natural light and studio lighting--it's fun having a dual-sort of personality! And it certainly keeps things interesting!

Pink, pink, and some more pink

    Monday, July 25th, 2011

Okay, y’all, I got my babygirl fix this weekend! Whew! In this house full of testosterone, I need it! Have I ever mentioned that we have two boys? And two dogs? That are boys? I’m on my own here in a sea of dudes–sometimes a girl just needs to get all pinkalicious!

    And pinkalicious we got!

Here’s a sneak peek from a lovely lady I got to meet this weekend! She’s a baby sister to two big brothers, so she’s going to learn to be a tough little girl! But what a dainty little princess she’ll be as well! Ah! Newborns! I really love newborns! It was a great weekend because I had TWO new, fresh scrunchy babies to love on. Oh, that wrinkly skin! But on to the sneak!

Oh sweet eyelashes! They are so often “wasted” on boys who care nothing about their lashes.  Lucky little girl!

Oh my oh my oh my! Her little feet came together and I snapped and, oh how I love this image!

Finally got to use my pink! And a new banner. Love it! She was totally relaxed once we got her to sleep!

This is the outfit that launched a thousand ships.

Well, maybe not! But it did get Mom and me planning this session several months ago when we set up the session! I do love the blooms!

Love. Beauty. Motherhood. This might just be my favorite image from the session. What a gorgeous mama and baby!

    Happiness.

We got some really fun images of the brothers. They were so super-patient!  We got quite a few (even including their sweet dog!). I liked this shot of the whole family.

    And this one, too:

    And. .. this one, too!

Can’t wait to have the rest ready for you guys! It was a blast! Thanks again!

    Jack and Jill Mini-Sessions

    Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

    Pink. And blue.

I’ll take pictures of your kids.

    For you.

Okay, well that was my pitiful attempt at poetry. Iambic pentameter was never my strong point! I should stick with photography!

    But here’s the deal:

I had SO much fun last month with my portfolio-building FREE mini-sessions that I am doing it AGAIN! Mark your calendar for August 6th!

It’s a little bit different than last time, but I’m hoping to see YOU very soon! I’ve been doing some serious “soul-searching” about what I absolutely LOVE to do, and I always come back to “kids”!  So I want to do some studio work with just kids!

Here are the details of my “Jack and Jill” sessions:

    * 20-minute mini-session

    * Individual portraits of children 6-months (sitting up) through tween.

    * Girls with a pink background; boys on blue

    * I’ll be trying out a few props/background elements depending on the age

    * I’m looking to capture the many different “faces” of your child

    * Siblings (up to two kiddos–space is limited!) are fine but let me know beforehand!

In exchange for your signed model release (I can put images on the web, use for marketing, etc), YOU RECEIVE:

    * One social networking (Facebook) file of your choice

    * A secure, online gallery of approximately 10 images

    * Great pricing for prints and digital files

    * A free gift if you purchase all the digital files from the session

    * Lots of love from me

Okay, well, maybe you can’t quantify that last one, but it certainly gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling!

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THIS???

Because you want to help a girl build her portfolio. Because school is about to start and your kiddo is going to grow a lot this year. Start it off with a great portrait to send to Grandma MiMi. Aunt BoBo. Uncle Bob. Cousin Charlie.  You get the picture. Or because your baby might just be sitting up or scooting around now, but in a few short, brief, fleeting months (or weeks!) your baby will be WALKING. And talking. And making you breakfast. (Okay, maybe not that last one)!

I’m open to doing some fun stuff here–sports theme, cheerleading uniform, dance recital costume revisited.  Bring some of your props. We’ll use some of my props. Message me at info@sabrinakphotography.com and we’ll talk!

    Here are the session times:

    11:00AM–booked

    11:30AM–booked

    12:00PM–booked

    12:30PM–booked

    1:00PM–booked

    1:30PM–booked

Sign up NOW! The last minis filled up FAST!

A lovely couple and their furbaby

    Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

I don’t tend to do a lot of engagement photography (and these are certainly not their only engagement portraits–see below). Mostly because I am terrified of weddings. Not attending them, per se. I am a cryer. I love weddings. I love the love. And the cake.  It all comes down to the cake, really.

No, I’m terrified of photographing weddings. I lack the nerves of steel it takes to document the event that took one woman and perhaps a whole team of relatives and planning professionals MONTHS to organize and make perfect down to the last detail. I admire wedding photographers. But I can’t handle the stress.

But I do love working with people, and I met this lovely couple while doing an extended family session a few weeks back. Most of the session focused on the most adorable little girl ever.  But we took a few minutes to capture this couple with their furbaby. It was fun. Sometimes dogs take direction a little better than toddlers. I can see why some people really get into pet photography! (Again, not for me! I still prefer the two-legged babies!)

Why these are not “engagement portraits”?  This couple was recently engaged and have just set a date for a lovely Austin wedding. But they already have some great engagement portraits! Men, take note: this quick-thinking guy thought to hire a photographer to document the proposal at a lighthouse in Martha’s Vineyard. Yep. Sounds pretty awesome to me! (And do any guys read my blog? I keep asking you to comment if you do? Perhaps not!) Definitely should be something to think about when you are ready to pop the big question!!!!

    Here are some faves:

    And playing with angles:

It was great to meet you guys!  You are a gorgeous couple and you are going to have a fabulous wedding!

PS: Now all I can think about is cake. Yum! Cake!!!

    Show me some color!

    Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

I loved working with this family! Okay, so I’m totally admitting how awfully behind I am with blogging, since you may remember their itsy bitsy sneak peek like, oh, over a month ago. Jeez, I am a slacker! Or I’m just busy! Or I’m not the world’s best blogger. Whatever the excuse may be, let’s just get on with it!

So I was so thankful to work with this family. I met Mom and Dad a few lifetimes ago back when I was teaching, and a few kids and some serious craziness later, we all got to come together to celebrate these miracle babies and take some family portraits. I knew Mom would totally understand when I said “Lots of COLOR!”.  She even worked in some wild feathers in with the fantastic outfits. I heart feathers and super cute girly stuff!

So here are some of my favorites:

As you can see, this family has tons of personality! I could have worked with them all day long! And maybe we will do that some day!!! At the end, we snapped a few of just Mom and Dad, since they had just celebrated their anniversary. Thanks again for coming in, guys! It was a blast to meet and work with you and your wonderful babies!!!!
