About Sabrina K. Photography:

Welcome to my blog! I'm Sabrina Koogler, and I love photography! I always have my nose in a photography book, camera to my face, working on a challenge, workshop, or contest (in between sessions and processing!) becoming the best photographer I can be! I used to teach high school Spanish, and now I'm a stay-at-home mom to two adorable, rascally boys. Sabrina K Photography is my third baby, born of the need to document all of the milestones, wild times, and quiet moments of my children and others. My style is fun and natural. I seek to document the authentic "you" in my images. I offer custom portraiture in the Houston area, and I'm based in Pearland. I enjoy working with natural light and studio lighting--it's fun having a dual-sort of personality! And it certainly keeps things interesting!

    Holiday Mini-Sessions Announcement

    Thursday, September 29th, 2011

It’s that time of year again. It’s still 95 degrees but  Hobby Lobby is in full-on red and green mode. You’re starting to dream in reindeer sweaters and eggnog.  The kids are making lists. Checking them twice.  Pinterest is ablaze with the latest color combos–aqua and orange! No, plum and bright yellow! Photographers start to look a bit harried.  You’ve almost justified the purchase of those awesome boots. And a scarf. In Texas. (Did I mention 95 degrees?) What am I rambling on about?

Yep. I am talking about the Christmas card picture. Everybody wants it. Everybody wants it to be cute and creative. And everybody wants it to be EASY, most of all.

So push the easy button and sign up for a mini-session. Here are the details:

Sessions are starting at 10AM on the half hour, and I will run sessions through the day as long as they are booked. These may be the ONLY mini-sessions I will be offering this season–my weekends are booking up FAST.  I’m also considering some local, Pearland, outdoor minis that evening (just two spots available).  Send me an email or give me a ring to reserve your spot!

You have full access to all of my props (books, ornaments, letter blocks, stuff I don’t even have a name for). Families on a bright white background. Or just kids is fine–there’s a “just kids” trend on the cards happening thing year, I read.  I can also do kids on holly green. Come dressed super-formal in your red argyle sweater. Or super-casual in your Christmas jammies. Or do yer own thing–it’s YOUR family portrait!

    And “C” is for “cousin”

    Monday, September 26th, 2011
(Okay, I’m editing this to add some more of this gorgeous mama and one more favorite that I managed to leave out last night. That’s what happens when you blog while exhausted!)
So my boys are pretty excited to have a new little cousin on the way. Well, actually, I don’t know that the one-year-old really has a clue. But that being said, my 4-year-old is eagerly awaiting teaching his new cousin things he thinks are really important, namely:
    1. wrestling
    2. star wars
    3. more wrestling
And you can just imagine how thrilled I am to be an aunt with an adorable little boy to spoil and photograph! I was thrilled to meet up with Mom and Dad this weekend (we had to reschedule their initial maternity session due to-wait for it!-rain, just like their engagement session a few years ago! Seriously, we need these two to schedule more portraits to cure this drought problem!). We had a fabulous session despite some heat (seriously? I’m melting already! Bring on the four days of fall we get every year!). But enough of my yammering, here’s a few of my faves:
I think Mom is quite adorable in the bloom of pregnancy!
Despite some heat and crowds, it was a lot of fun working at Hermann Park this weekend!
Love the connection! Love that tree (can I bring it with me to every location?) And yes, some more Scrabble tiles.
This one is definitely one of my favorites.
You can tell these two are beginning to count down to Baby. It’s such an exciting time for them, getting ready to become parents. To meet their son, who they’ve been preparing for these long months. To begin a new chapter in their lives. Oh my, waxing sentimental, much? I can’t wait to meet this little guy, either!
And I think this might be my favorite from the session. But I really love them all. Will have the rest to you ASAP! Love you guys!
Okay, and here are a few more additions:
I’m not sure what it is about cypress trees that are so pretty. Maybe it’s just the roots that I warn people about tripping over and then trip over myself. At least I didn’t fall into the water!
And one final image. Just because I love sun flare.

Tutu, bloomers, and a cake smash

    Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

I love first birthday pictures. I mean, really, you get to dress the kids up in something cute and then let them go wild with frosting. Does it get any better than that!

I met this cutie a few months ago when she was super teeny tiny and I can’t believe she’s already one!

We got some great images–it’s always so difficult to choose for the blog! Maybe someday I will upgrade so visitors can just scroll through the whole session.

Anyway. . . here are just a few of the faves:

Mom picked the most adorable outfits. This tutu just stole my heart. Especially with some adorable little feet sticking out!

She’s just as cute as a bug. Not walking just yet but, man, can she crawl!

We got to try out lots of color in this session! I love the primary colors! She’s just too cute! And she had a fun time with the rocking chair!

Okay, here’s a little secret that seems to be pretty universal: One-year-olds generally will tell you how old they are. They are in that stage of the “Pointer of Power!”–using the index finger to communicate what they want. So usually you can get a great image with them giving you the “ONE!”. This is my favorite “one” image. I mean, she’s just so perfectly cute here!

But if you asked me my favorite image from the session, it might just be this one. She’s checking out her belly button. Too cute. Love it!

Did I mention the crawling? She’s just absolutely too cute! By the way, this a-dorable outfit is available through Etsy at “BlueberryKate”.  I totally love this!

And then we switched gears and it was time for cake!

After a rocky start, we got her a fork and she got a little more into it.

    A little more icing. . .

Because it’s her party. She can cry if she wants to. I might feel the same way with cake on my foot. Or maybe not. I mean, it’s cake.

Last one. She was being so serious during the session. I loved all her faces, even (okay, especially) the tears in the cake.

Thanks again for coming in for a great session! I hope the party was great and all the adventures of year two go smoothly!!

    Maternity sneak peek

    Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

I met up with the cutest couple this weekend to take some maternity portraits before they welcome their sweet babies. Yep, you read that correctly! Twins! Mom and Dad will meet a boy and a girl very soon!

Mom and Dad were such troopers as we were braving hurricane-like winds for the session.  But I’m thrilled with the fun range of images we got, starting with le bump.

Mom looks fabulous! I’m sure she’s totally feeling very much in the whole “bloom of pregnancy” but I love her tidy bump!

She mentioned before the session that she has craved ice cream throughout her pregnancy and liked the idea of incorporating that into the session. Love it! Is she adorable, or what??!!

I love this one of the two of them.  Dad was so nice during the whole session! What a lovely couple!

And. . .I love this one, too.

My bet is that these babies are going to have the cutest dimples!

This was really a fun part of the session (well, for me at least–it’s much more difficult to hold tiny Scrabble tiles just the right way than one would imagine!). We actually started the other way around, but they know which baby is where so we were able to accurately label them.

Mom and Dad had a quick change and then the light got all yummy and things just got totally gorgeous.

Love. this. See what I mean about dimples?

And I heart this one, too:

So sweet. Love me some sun flare!

And finally, the boots. I just really like it:

Thank you again for a great session and I can’t wait to have the rest of the session ready for you! And can’t wait to meet those adorable babies!
