About Sabrina K. Photography:

Welcome to my blog! I'm Sabrina Koogler, and I love photography! I always have my nose in a photography book, camera to my face, working on a challenge, workshop, or contest (in between sessions and processing!) becoming the best photographer I can be! I used to teach high school Spanish, and now I'm a stay-at-home mom to two adorable, rascally boys. Sabrina K Photography is my third baby, born of the need to document all of the milestones, wild times, and quiet moments of my children and others. My style is fun and natural. I seek to document the authentic "you" in my images. I offer custom portraiture in the Houston area, and I'm based in Pearland. I enjoy working with natural light and studio lighting--it's fun having a dual-sort of personality! And it certainly keeps things interesting!

Extended Family Session: At the park

    Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

I have had the opportunity to work with some wonderful families over the past few months. The gift of photography is a FABULOUS gift to give to grandparents. It’s been such a blessing to capture several generations together. It’s always a fun time, for sure!

Part of this family traveled QUITE a way for the session! All the way from Minnesota! Mom and Dad are photographers there, so they had a lot of idea for the session and we had a blast putting it all together! I love when a family talks about what the currently have hanging in their home as a huge canvas and what they are looking to replace that with! ;-) Bigger is better!

So here are some sneaks from the session. I really had a ton of favorites!

I think this was the first of second image I took. These kids know how to work a camera!

It was a sunny, hazy day in Houston!

Nana and Gramps with the kiddos.

    Priceless expression from Grandpa here!

Because two people fell in love…

We brought a book to read…

    Expert ticklers!

    I just adore this image.

    Just hanging around…

This is one of my favorites in the running for that new big canvas…

    …or maybe this one

I love using the phrase “adult children!”  when composing shots in generational family sessions. Brothers!

    Cuties

Or maybe this is my favorite for that big canvas

Or this. . . Kind of difficult to choose, don’t you think??

Thanks, everyone for a wonderful session! I had a blast!

    Project TWELVE: {fresh}

    Monday, January 30th, 2012

Okay, okay, okay. So if you’ve been following me you know that I was all “commitment-phobic” about my weekly project with the ladies over at The Bloom Forum.

And then I went and jumped on board with a monthly project with the Newborn Goodness forum.

Meh. Maybe 2012 is the year of commitment.

This month the theme was {fresh}.  We are experiencing what some Facebook friends (because you know it’s true if you saw it on FB!) have called “springter”. Not quite winter; not quite spring. You wear a coat in the morning and run the a/c in the afternoon.

    You know: Springter.

Sometimes I wish this Texas weather would just make up its mind!

Anyway. . .this image captured SO much for me during a recent session. This sweet girl was just doing her thing in between some extended family shots at the park. Just young and fresh and enjoying the unseasonably “fresh” weather (I know I for one was sweating before the end of the session).  I love that you can spy her little brother following her in the background.

So here’s my take on {fresh}:

Now go check out Amara’s take on {fresh} here: Amara Cohen Photography

    Project 52: Week Four {homemade}

    Thursday, January 26th, 2012

Many thanks to my husband for providing me with this week’s theme. El escorpion appeared one night while I was on a photo shoot and he was in charge of the animals children. One of the things I’ve discovered about parenting is that sometimes we, the parents, enjoy playing with the toys more than the kids do. This building set was a Christmas gift to our 4 1/2 year old.  Since opening it, he’s made. ..um. .hmm. ..not sure. My husband on the other hand has made a scorpion, a tyrannosaurus rex, and a stegosaurus.  Unfortunately, those dinos met their demise at the childrens’ hands while I was taking a shower. Sometimes it’s just hard being homemade!

My “concept” for this week was a bit of a product shoot with the high-key background and some plexiglas as a reflective surface on top of the seamless paper.  Difficult getting the “right” vs. the “wrong” reflections! This gave me more respect for commercial and product photographers! Even though the subject is not moving, getting the lighting just right is tricky!

Not to mention getting the angle right so you could see what this crazy creature is was a challenge!

    Coming right at you!

So that was this week’s {homemade}.

Go and check out another fabulous photographer from The Bloom Forum to see her interpretation of the week’s theme: Misty Setzler, Lubbock TX Photographer

    “Just” my kids

    Monday, January 23rd, 2012

    Be still my heart!

These images mean the world to me. Lately I have just not been picking up the camera to document my own family and today, in the midst of rushing around trying to get ready to go out of town for *gasp* the very first time without my kids, my boys decided to be sweet to each other long enough for me to stop-drop-and run to get the camera.

(If you know the boys (AKA “The Kaos”) then you know this is 110% truly “them”! Especially the “half naked/wearing each other’s pajamas” look.

Notice the Pillow Pets? I think those critters have more appearances on my blog than I do!
