About Sabrina K. Photography:

Welcome to my blog! I'm Sabrina Koogler, and I love photography! I always have my nose in a photography book, camera to my face, working on a challenge, workshop, or contest (in between sessions and processing!) becoming the best photographer I can be! I used to teach high school Spanish, and now I'm a stay-at-home mom to two adorable, rascally boys. Sabrina K Photography is my third baby, born of the need to document all of the milestones, wild times, and quiet moments of my children and others. My style is fun and natural. I seek to document the authentic "you" in my images. I offer custom portraiture in the Houston area, and I'm based in Pearland. I enjoy working with natural light and studio lighting--it's fun having a dual-sort of personality! And it certainly keeps things interesting!

  • Macro Monday: Marigold

    May 7th, 2012

    Saw this beauty in the back yard today. It’s a survivor because my now-two-year-old is pretty ruthless with picking the buds off flowers:

    I got to use this new favorite lens a couple of times last week for a gorgeous mama-to-be (again) and some sweet baby eyelashes. Really enjoying getting up close!!

    PROJECT 52: Week 18 {temptation}

    May 3rd, 2012

    Lately, I’ve been wishing I could just live off of coffee. (Well, okay, coffee and red wine, but I’ll just stick with coffee right now.) Eating food (or, rather, preparing said food–no, wait, it’s the cleaning up that get’s me) just feels like an insurmountable chore these days.  But, alas, I am quite sensitive to caffeine, and I truly, madly, deeply SHOULD NEVER DRINK MORE THAN ONE CUP AT A TIME. Ever.

    Really.

    Despite that fact that I would  drink coffee all day long if I could,  sadly, I can’t. It triggers my anxiety. It makes my heart rate crazy. It makes me wonky and, ultimately, tired.  Highs and lows. Don’t tell me caffeine is not a drug. That stuff can seriously mess you up!

    When our 12-cup coffee maker died, we opted to replace it with a Keurig. Not because it is neat and trendy and cool. Not because the coffee is any better. But because a single serving is what we need to tame our caffeine addiction. And those stinkin’ little cups are way pricey! Sheesh! But if left unmonitored we would go through several pots on the weekend and end up climbing the walls. (Yes, I’m saying “we” here because I am not alone in this justified love of the java.)
    Anyway. .. this week my temptation is that second K-cup:
    Now go check out what the other lovely ladies of The Bloom Forum have to say about their temptations this week, starting with Misty Seltzer | Lubbock, TX photographer HERE.

    Mr. S, Twelve days new

    May 2nd, 2012

    Mr. S. was in a hurry! He was scheduled to arrive in a timely manner, but he had other plans and made a Good Friday appearance! Mom and I are good friends and I was a little surprised when I saw that he had arrived Friday afternoon after just talking to her Tuesday about the final few weeks!

    To say the least, he’s precious and very, very loved by his older brother. As a mom of two boys, I’ve come to just absolutely love the bond between brothers and these guys are already thick as thieves!

    Little man loves the swaddle! And I can’t get enough of this supersoft lil monster hat!!!!

    Eyes wide open.

    And totally zonked out!

    Yes, I’ll admit this is probably my favorite newborn pose. I always seem to bring out the squishiness. And I love squishy babies!

    This is a new little giraffe set that I’m loving right now.

    Dad is a pilot in his spare time, so I was thrilled that we got this image with a little aviator hat!

    He was pretty content once he got into this pose!

    Sweet little beach baby!

    Oh what sweet cheeks!

    Thanks again for having me out and sharing your darling little boys!!!

    PROJECT 52: Week 17 {facial features}

    April 26th, 2012

    I realized that I’ve been so consumed with other stuff that I have not really been playing with my new toy–my 100mm macro lens.  So I popped that bad boy on this week and have been sticking to it. Here’s a secret: I think I’m a prime gal after all. Yikes! How on earth am I going to resolve this love for primes with a love for families? Stay tuned for that, but today what I have for you are some {facial features} courtesy of this week’s challenge with the beautiful ladies of The Bloom Forum:

    Truly, he’s the apple of my eye. I can’t love this photo any more than I do right now. Big pink puffy heart love.

    Can dirt be considered a facial feature? It’s pretty much a standard around here! I love his squishy nose here. And the apple-eating drool drop.

    Love that expressive face. He would not give up the dimples, though. Boy, he has the cutest dimples! Since the day he was born! I was lucky to get what I got!

    Those ladykiller eyelashes. . . sigh. . .he gets them from his Daddy. (Notice he’s wearing a different sunsuit here? Yeah, did I mention “dirt” being a constant??)

    Yes, his eyes are totally unreal here. I didn’t really do anything with them in post. Love this boy!!!

    What a fun assignment this week! Perhaps if I was working with my “big” I would have been able to really get close to focus on those details, but this will do for now!

    Now go check out Misty Seltzer | Lubbock, TX Family Photographer to see her take on this week’s theme here.
